Trip Update
June 19th, 2008
Just a quick note to let you know I made it out to Sequoia National Park safe and sound. I apologize for not writing sooner but WiFi access in the mountains (6800ft) is extremely limited. As I slowly wrap up my trip out west, I wanted to share with you my Top 10 Sights of Sequoia National Park. In no particular order…
- Sunset atop Moro Rock - stunning panoramic views of the Great Western Divide and beyond.
- Black Bear and Cub in Halstead Meadow - proof the restoration of this beautiful place is going well.
- Golden Trout in Heather Lake - alpine lake surrounded by snowcaps & stocked with trout - ’nuff said.
- Golden Hour in Crescent Meadow - how dense is the foliage in a meadow? Deep as deer are tall.
- Late Afternoon in Round Meadow - giant Sequoias lit by warm late afternoon sunlight - spectacular!
- Rattlesnake at Horseshoe Bend - technically it’s along road to Kings Canton but what a striking pose.
- Wildflowers Everywhere - yes, everywhere - high and low, in every color and size.
- Tokopah Falls Trail - amazing trail built by an equally amazing team of individuals.
- Marmot Taste Test - capturing one licking the salt off my tripod legs? Priceless.
- Little Baldy view of Tablelands - just try to count the mountaintops - I dare you!
Well, that’s all for now. I’ve got just two days left in this beautiful place before I make the long trek home.
Expect posting to return to its normal schedule sometime after June 26th. See ya!
